Position:                            Laborer

Reports to:                        Production Supervisor



Performs general labor duties including but not limited to cleaning, grinding, fire watch, and trash removal under minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Frequently cleans and maintains shop area

  • Occasionally performs minor ship preparation such as grinding

  • Occasionally removes and redresses lugs and pad eyes

  • Install handrails and remove handrails per shipyard regulations and requirements

  • Occasionally sweeps, paints, accumulates skids, parts…

  • Frequently keeps work area organized

  • Work as a fire watch when required and while hot work is being performed

  • Work as a hole watch when required

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required

  • Knowledge of Metrics is preferred


    Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke.  Work may be carried out indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
