Sixth Class of Apprentices Graduate Program (18.09.09)

Recently, the sixth class of apprentices completed Aker Philadelphia Shipyard’s apprentice program, bringing the total number of graduates to date to 26. The latest graduates are: Troy Joyner, Shipbuilder; Jeyaraj Ramasamy, Shipbuilder; William Smeigh, Shipbuilder; and Joseph Ungar, Shipbuilder.

AKER PHILADELPHIA SHIPYARD INITIATES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE CHILDREN OF ITS EMPLOYEES (15.04.08)

Aker Philadelphia Shipyard (APSI) has established a scholarship program to help finance higher education for the children of its employees. Through the program, APSI will award two $2,000 scholarships to children of full time employees. The scholarship is administered and maintained by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America and will utilize standard recipient selection procedures.

KEEL LAYING TAKES PLACE FOR TENTH VESSEL BUILT AT AKER PHILADELPHIA SHIPYARD (31.03.08)

PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 31, 2008) – Aker Philadelphia Shipyard today held a keel laying ceremony for the sixth Veteran Class MT46 product tanker in the yard’s current build program. When completed in 2009, the vessel will be 600 feet in length and be capable of transporting the equivalent of 14 million gallons of liquid product. The ship is the tenth constructed by the yard since 2000.

The annual general meeting of Aker Philadelphia Shipyard ASA will be held on Thursday, 3 April 2008 at 13:00 hrs at Felix Konferansesenter, Bryggetorget 3 (Aker Brygge), NO-0250 Oslo, Norway. Ballots will be distributed at the meeting venue from 12:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs on the day of the general meeting.
