Aker Philadelphia Shipyard expects to continue its success, by focusing on four clear strategic goals:
1) Zero Incidents – Safety is our first core value, and in recognizing the goal that all accidents are preventable – we strive for ZERO injuries.
- We will never compromise safety
- We will communicate our safety goals and objectives
- We will seek advice from best practices around us, within the Aker group and other parties who can help us with improving workplace safet
2) Double Productivity – We “AIM” to be twice as good at the end of our current series as when we started.
- We have established AIM 200 as a continuous improvement program and our number one operational target
- We measure performance and improvement week to week for everything we do
- We recognize that we can always be better and will never accept that things are good enough
- We will create accountability at all levels of the organization for our performance
3) Three Vessels per Year – Through improved productivity and optimal use of the facility, we intend to maximize throughput – targeting three vessels per year.
- We will optimize the use of our best-in-class US facility for production of commercial merchant vessels
- We will continue to take advantage of shipbuilding expertise from Aker Yards and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard
- We will focus our resources where we have best competitive advantage and create the most value
- We will apply innovation and creativity to every step of the shipbuilding process
4) Market Leader – Through our superior production facility, skilled workforce, and unique partnerships, we will maintain our position as a leader in US commercial shipbuilding.
- We will evaluate existing and new market segments
- We will evaluate best in class designs from world class shipbuilders
- We will target taking a leading position within attractive market segments by weighing short term benefits versus long term opportunities and value creation
