Philly Shipyard, Inc. (formerly Aker Philadelphia Shipyard) is seeking candidates for Engineers (Electrical, Field, Outfitting, and Design), Safety Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Riggers, Apprentices, Laborers, Material Control Specialists, Machine Operators, and Welders.

Philly Shipyard, Inc. (PSI) is an independent new build shipyard located in the Navy Yard business park. Operating two large dry docks of the former Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, we construct large ocean-going vessels for a mix of commercial and government clients. This means that we are not an affiliate of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, or U.S. government but a publicly-traded company which competes for contracts against other businesses to build ships for the U.S. Jones Act market – a law requiring all goods transported between U.S. ports be carried on ships built in the U.S.

Currently, we are building the entire five-ship series of National Security Multi-mission Vessels (NSMVs), the first set of purpose-built training ships which will be owned by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Maritime Administration (MARAD) and operated by five state-affiliated maritime academies which educate and train the next generation of U.S. merchant marines – who are not a division of the military but those who operate the vessels which carry cargo and passengers around the world. We also have a contract to build a Subsea Rock Installation Vessel (SRIV) for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company. The SRIV will strategically project stones onto the ocean floor in order to build a foundation for offshore wind turbines to be anchored. Right now, the company’s order backlog sits at six vessels which means guaranteed work through 2025.
