TOTE Services, LLC and Philly Shipyard, Inc. celebrated the cutting of steel for the third National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) destined for the Maine Maritime Academy.
The Empire State VI – current training vessel for SUNY Maritime College – made its first stop on what will be its final “summer at sea” term before it is replaced with NSMV 1 (Empire State VII) in 2023. The crew of more than 400 cadets and 81 faculty, staff, and crew is making a 75-day journey including stops abroad.
Philly Shipyard announced the authorization by MARAD and subsequent order from TOTE Services for the construction of one additional National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) – marking the fifth and final NSMV in the training ship series.
